No replacement

So it is amazing how an injury can take you down so quickly. Last week I was at the gym for my kickboxing class (which I love by the way). I was practicing my knees while the trainer held pads when all of a sudden I felt this horrific pain in the back of my foot. Long story short it wasn’t Achilles Tendon. Thank God not snapped but something. I hobbled my way through the gym to pick up the kid from the Kid’s Academy and came home. Ice and elevation and pain. I was basically told to stay off it for a week. Funny I have a toddler and a house full of guests coming for #FamJam2016 how can that happen?
I stayed off it as much as I can and luckily enough my parents arrived a few days later. No rest for the wicked my mom jumped right in.

It’s been a week and I still can’t walk without some help, presently in the form of a cane. I have another appointment today to see what, if anything, has changed. Fingers crossed its on the road to recovery.

One thing I realized is that no matter what age you are sometimes there is no replacement for your health or for having your μαμά around.

A little ditty about Jack and Diane...no really in all seriousness I'm a daughter, sister, wife and mother. I'm a Greek-American, who has transplanted in Canada. As a first time mom I'm sharing some things as I go along.

What a whirlwind of a few weeks

Well it has certainly been a whirlwind of a few weeks.  I’m just now getting a moment to sit down and collect my thoughts.  First we celebrated my brother’s birthday as you read about my last post.  Then we fast forwarded to my amazing nephew who turned three.  Seriously, when did that happen?  We welcomed another cousin into the family with baby Alexandros joining the C crew and let me tell you, he’s the cutest little thing!

We started an official art class for the kid where she gets to express herself and if you’ve met her you know she’s a ham!  There will be a mini performance during the last class, this mama can’t wait!  Last week we worked on the backdrop, picture toddlers, painting and having a blast (see photo below)!  We also start our indoor ball program this week, I’m hoping it is a great way to have the little one burn off some energy!

Oh and throughout all that we are planning a birthday party.  Yup can you believe it the kid is almost two.  Seriously, I feel like I blinked and here we are.  It is true what they say, cherish every moment as they go by so fast.  I swear I remember that car ride home from the hospital like it was yesterday.  Yelling at hubby for driving too fast, meanwhile I don’t think he was even going the speed limit.  Now we have an outgoing, assertive, happy, curious child who loves books, jumping on the trampoline/bouncy castle at the gym, Elmo and the Wiggles.

In case you are lucky enough to live somewhere warm, it is still snowing in April in our part of the world.  So the other day the kid had her hand on her hip, looks directly at me and says, “Mama you take me a bike ride downstairs?” I look back at her, trying not to laugh, and say “I’m sorry sweetie, but we can’t go for a bike ride, it is snowing.”  She replies, “Okay mama, walk the beach?”  The kid loves being outside and the beach as much as her mama.  Send some good weather vibes our way and Happy Spring!!
